Innovation in Chinese / Japanese...

新機軸 is a Japanese word that is used to mean: innovation, new departure, new way, milestone, or breakthrough.

The literal meaning is, “new axis” or “new axle.” It's almost like saying a new wheel (like coming up with a round wheel when the previous version was square).

Please note that this also has meaning in Chinese but only would mean “new axle” without the meaning of “innovation” being associated with it. Consider this to be “Japanese only.”

革新 means innovate or innovation in Chinese, Japanese Kanji, and old Korean Hanja.

The literal meaning is “new leather,” but you must understand that colloquially, this leather character also means renewal, reform, change, or transformation.

While the first character is leather or reform, the second character strictly means “new.”

失敗並非一種選擇 is probably the best way to say, “Failure is not an option,” in Chinese.

Just don't forget that some ancient Chinese proverbs suggest that failure is a learning opportunity that leads to success or innovation. So don't plan to fail but failure is only a waste if nothing is learned from the failure.
